Our Master Plan Head of Gunnamatta Bay is currently on public exhibition

04-Oct-2011

Our Master Plan of the Head of Gunnamatta Bay is currently on public exhibition at Sutherland Shire Council until 21st October. Following a lengthy consultation process with local stakeholders we were able to develop the master plan which outlines proposed foreshore works at the Head of Gunnamatta Bay for the next 10 years. The main objective of the Masterplan is to maximise the  potential of Gunnamatta Bay in Cronulla to become the pride of Shire's most popular foreshores.

The main features of the Masterplan are:

 - to rebuild the existing seawall in "environmentally friendly way" by maximising the habitat diversity and responding to intertidal conditions; and ultimately construction of a saltmarsh bay area at western end of Tonkin Oval

- to provide comfortable access to foreshore and to maximise recreational opportunities; this includes a proposed public lift incorporated with the new Cronulla Marina, a 3.5 m wide foreshore promenade and series of elevated boardwalks and lookouts at select locations

- to improve boat access on the foreshore and parking capacity at reconfigured foreshore carpark
